LAST OF THE DAY HOILE MINERS by John Senior

Following the Nationalisation of the British Coal Industry a handful of small mines were allowed to continue working independently under Licence to the NCB Sadly these operations have now almost disappeared. This book recounts the history of Miners and Mining Engineers working in this small corner of a huge national industry. It is dedicated to the men who spent their working lives in these mines  the last of the Day-Hole Miners.

About the Author 
John Senior was born in Holmfirth, West Yorkshire, into a family with a strong mining background. His youth was spent in Hoylandswaine, South Yorkshire, where his father and a partner ran a small Colliery Company. John now lives in the Upper Holme Valley with his wife Hazel. He chose Construction as a career. and works as a Manager for a large Building and Civil Engineering Company.
