BASFORD - a village history - from village to suburb - by Alf Bowley

£8.50

About this book -

From Nottingham’s Forest Recreation Ground through the present suburbs of Carrington, Mapperley Park, Sherwood, Basford and Heathfield, the Sherwood Forest extended north with the River Leen as its western boundary. From Norman times to 1877 these five suburbs and others beyond the Leen - Whitemoor, Aspley, Stockhill and Cinderhill - were all within the Parish of Basford. This book shows how these suburbs developed from a village on the edge of the forest where the main road from Nottingham divided to the north and west.
